Floral fantasy! My review of the Hip Hip Handmade Yani dress featuring Bari J's Painted Desert Night Floral

I am so excited to be reviewing my custom made Yani Dress from Hip Hip Handmade in the breathtaking Bari J and Art Gallery Fabrics exclusive Painted Desert Night Floral.  It is always a privilege to team up with another creative person on a project so this dress is a very special thing to me.  It is one of the most beautiful and personally meaningful pieces of clothing I own.  I have gushed over and over in the past about how much I love floral prints but there is something about this specific print that just makes my heart sing.

My custom made Yani dress from Hip Hip Handmade in Bari J's Painted Desert Night Floral is a dream come true!

A good chunk of my wardrobe is made up of fanciful floral prints because they bring me so much joy!  I have been enamored with flowers and plants since I can remember.  My mother and grandmother always had tons of houseplants so I grew up with a green thumb.  My grandmother was particularly fond of African Violets, they always delighted me because their velvety purple, pink and violet flowers were always blooming providing beauty even in the middle of winter.  I love all kinds of flowers so when I started making Pinterest boards to plan our home redecoration, I decided I wanted a bold floral rug for our living room, this was when I discovered the inspiring and whimsical floral designs of Bari J and I was immediately smitten!  The pattern that really stood out to me was the Painted Desert Night floral and through a few searches I found that Art Gallery Fabrics had a Bari J collection so I contacted Hip Hip Handmade to bring my vision to life!

POCKETS!!!

I am absolutely in love with my custom Hip Hip Handmade Yani Dress.  The Yani dress is a peasant style with a generous full skirt, pretty cap sleeves that can be worn on or off the shoulder and pockets.  I cannot get enough of this dress, it really is a dream come true.  The fit is like a glove, made to measure so it flatters my body showing off my curves to a tee, Shilyn is very meticulous so her dresses fit me absolutely perfect.  This style is very figure flattering, it creates an hourglass silhouette and the versatile sleeves make it easy to style the dress on or off the shoulder depending on the occasion.  I wore the dress to church with my sleeves on the shoulder for modesty, this also allows me to wear a regular bra with the dress which is much more comfortable for everyday wear or casual events. For a little more sexiness on our date night, I wore my Yani Dress off the shoulder.  For foundation, I am wearing a Cacique strapless longline bra and Spanx higher power shorts underneath.  I looked and felt enchanting as we enjoyed dinner and a stroll through a local orchard together at sunset.  I could not resist frolicking in this glorious field of wildflowers in bloom, the pure white Queen Anne's Lace made the perfect backdrop to compliment all of the deep jewel tones in this floral and the streams of golden light from sunset gave our walk a magical otherworldly feel that made our date night extra special!

I really cannot gush enough about this ethereal Painted Desert Night floral design by Bari J and the material from Art Gallery Fabrics is bold and bright, capturing the spirit of Bari J's work perfectly.  Flowers, leaves and vines in shades of aqua, purple and bright green dance over a background of slate grey.  The colors in this print are some of my favorite shades so it is a pleasure to accessorize this dress as there are many beautiful shades to play with for endless combinations.  I went simple and romantic with my accessories because I wanted the dress to be the star of this outfit and I wanted to be comfortable on our date.  A homemade double purple ranunculus hairpiece, ivory rose topped golden hoop earrings and an ivory bangle gave me the summer garden fairy look that I wanted for my romantic date night.

My Hip Hip Handmade Yani dress is going to bring me many years of pleasure and wear, it is a special piece of my wardrobe.  I highly recommend working with Hip Hip Handmade, she is incredibly sweet, her work is very high quality and working with a seamstress gives you the ability to create something together that is 100% you!

What dreams may come....

Delectable Delights! Custom cuteness with Bow Bow by Kyle!

Hi Everyone!  Fall is my favorite time of year so I try to do lots of extra adventuring and blogging to get the most of each delightful autumn day.  I am proud to say I am celebrating my 4th year of blogging here at Sassy Scarlet, I wrote my first blog on October 14, 2014 and it was the beginning of an epic adventure that I was not anticipating but I have loved every single second!  Thank you so much for reading, following me on social media and being the most amazing people a gal could be privileged to write for!  I look forward to continuing this journey and cannot wait to see where it ends up.

Today, I am reviewing the AMAZING hand made custom sunglasses from Bow Bow by Kyle.  These sickeningly sweet sunnies are the creations of Kyle Bowers, a fellow blogger and queen of everything cute!  Custom designed with you in mind, these Bow Bow by Kyle glasses are absolutely perfect in every way.  I sent Kyle a photograph of my beautiful Donut Twin Set designed and made for me by Lisa Shaner of Pattern Treasure Chest and she created these donut themed glasses that are the icing on the top of an already delectable outfit.  The Pink Angular Heart Shaped Sunglasses are embellished with frosting, sprinkles and delicious looking donuts of various kinds, one donut even features the adorable Hello Kitty.  Everything about these glasses is a perfect match for this outfit!  They are very sturdy and well made, these are made to last with high quality embellishments that are not going to start coming apart as soon as you put them on, these gorgeous custom glasses are crafted with quality, care and creativity.  The greatest thing about these glasses is that you get to create them together, you describe your vision and Bow Bow by Kyle brings it to life beautifully!

Bow Bow by Kyle also created these amazing Orange Fall/Pumpkin Spice themed sunglasses for me.  These are a PERFECT fit for me, I love all things Fall so when I pulled these pretties out of their package I literally screeched with pleasure.  Orange angular heart shaped sunglasses are embellished with polka dots, frosting, leaves, pumpkins, acorns and even a Pumpkin Spice Latte!  These fabulous shades represent everything I love the most; I love Coffee, Fall and Nature, these suit my personality perfectly!  I paired my Pumpkin Spice Shades with my Pinup Girl Clothing Zooey Dress with spooky black cats, fall leaves and a cute pumpkin border and fall accessories for a bright colorful outfit perfect for a day at the pumpkin patch.

Not only is Kyle creative but she has a knack for crafting an accessory that really captures the person she created it for, I cannot gush about how much I love these beautiful glasses!  High quality craftsmanship, an extremely creative product and one of the sweetest designers I have ever worked with, Bow Bow by Kyle has it all!  What will you create together?!

I had so much fun shooting these photos at one of my favorite local places, Anderson and Girls Orchards in Stanton, Michigan.  I ate one of Anderson's delicious donuts and enjoyed my first Apple Cider Slushee of 2018!  A FREE attraction that has farm fun activities for the whole family, with a plethora of amazing animals to see and pet, locally grown produce, tasty food, eclectic gifts, an Ice Cream Parlor and THE BEST Apple Cider and Donuts I have EVER had, Anderson and Girls is a Michigan treasure, you must check them out, Sassy says!!

Geek chic! My review of Erin Etc.

For today's blog, I am excited to team up with Erin. Etc.  Erin Etc. is a fab Etsy shop created by my sister Erin.  She offers geekery at it's finest, the cutest accessories with designs that are all things pop culture, movies, comic books, cartoons and more.   Erin makes earrings, keychains, ornaments and other fun little baubles to compliment your wardrobe and bring a smile to your face.  I am a lover of accessories, as well as a bit of a geek chick so I enjoy wearing items that have my favorite characters on them.    Many of the designs bring back fond memories of childhood and I love anything that inspires happy nostalgia!

Dress: Deer Print 50's Dress from Clarence and Alabama
Cardigan: Cropped Cardigan in Black by MAK from Pinup Girl Clothing

Hair done using Curlettes
I love these Erin Etc Bambi earrings!!  I am a sucker for Disney movies and Bambi has some of the cutest characters.  Also, Michigan is known for our beautiful White Tailed Deer and I have begun a bit of a collection on that theme.  The earrings are perfect, just the right size and cute as a button.  The detail is great with bright, sharp color and each pair is hand cut so they are very detailed.  The earrings are made with nickel free studs so they are safe for those with sensitive ears, I have issues with some earrings but these are comfortable for long wear.  People really noticed these Bambi earrings when I wore them out!  I received lots of compliments and had a few people ask where they could get a pair for themselves.

I wore my Erin Etc Bambi Earrings with this Clarence and Alabama 50's dress and Erstwilder Little Lockheart brooch for an adorable deer themed outfit that was perfect for a day out with my husband, we even enjoyed a little bit of fun playing in the snow.  I love to use accessories to create outfits with a ton of personality!  Erin Etc offers such a wide variety of designs that you are guaranteed to find something you love and if for any reason you don't, she also does custom orders. It's hard to chose with so many fun characters but there are a few I could not resist:

Ren and Stimpy:  My favorite cartoon during my teen years, I remember laughing until I cried with my friend over the weirdness that is Red and Stimpy!!

Sarah and Jareth AND The Worm from Labyrinth: Probably the movie that we watched the most in our home during our childhood, Labyrinth is still a family favorite and it's characters seem like old friends of mine!

Sophia from The Golden Girls:  Many an hour was spent with my grandmother watching The Golden Girls and wisecracking Sophia was always my favorite!

Strawberry Shortcake:  One of my most loved childhood cartoons, I still have my Strawberry Shortcake doll from when I was a little girl!

Go check out Erin Etc and tell me what are your favorite designs?

What's the scene? Design collaboration and review featuring Revere Folie!

Today, I am proud to be reviewing and sharing these amazing scene hoops by Revere Folie.  Revere Folie design, laser cut and assemble acrylic jewelry using style inspiration from bygone times.  Their fabulous designs are bright, fun, colorful, glittery and lightweight.  Available in a style to suit any personality or decade, Revere Folie have an amazing array to chose from.  I am thrilled to have collaborated with Angie of Revere Folie on these fabulous scene hoops called Sassy Sounds.
I have always loved music and have been a singing since I can remember.  When I was a little girl, I used to sing along with popular music, write my own songs and give "concerts" for my grandparents, parents or just about anyone who would listen.  I was beyond thrilled when in fourth grade I was finally old enough to join band and become a percussionist which furthered my love of music and performance.  During high school, I worked my way through a private academy, which I chose to attend because the public schools in our area had dropped all music programs for financial reasons and I could not go without music!  When I attended academy, I was blessed to participate in many different band and choir groups; we toured all over Michigan and the surrounding states performing together, making friends and memories.  I still perform to this day, singing as part of the worship team at church.  Singing has always been my greatest love, when I sing I feel happiest!!
When I contacted Revere Folie , I knew that I needed something that was music themed, together, we came up with these glorious Sassy Sounds Hoops bright white hoops with a golden vintage microphone and dancing music notes that perfectly capture my love of singing!  Music transcends, it truly is stronger than almost anything else on earth!

Dress: Christie in Music Print by Lindy Bop

These earrings and this dress were MADE for each other!

The next pair I was sent to style are the Fruit Loop Hoops in Cherry Bliss.  These tasty dangles are glossy black hoops bedecked with glittery cherry bunches that look juicy enough to eat.  Cherries are a staple in vintage and rockabilly fashion so the possibilities with this scrumptious design are endless!

I adore these lightweight and cheery earrings!  They are so much fun to wear and style, I matched cherries with cherries here, but I could also wear them with jeans and a peasant top to add some pizzazz to a casual outfit when running errands.
