Beautiful Brocade! My Review of the Lindy Bop Tiana Twin Set

Today, I am reviewing the Lindy Bop Tiana Twin Set in Burgundy.  The Tiana Twin Set consists of an off the shoulder dress with a flare skirt and matching bolero jacket.  The Tiana Twin Set is made of  luxuriant burgundy floral brocade, brocade is a heavy fabric with very little stretch.  This beautiful set is practical and perfect for the seasonal transition from summer into fall.  I love the vintage style of this set!  The best thing about the Tiana Twin Set to me is how versatile it is.  Michigan weather varies wildly in the fall months, some days it is 60 degrees and other days it is 80, this makes dressing for the day a bit difficult, Tiana solves this problem for me!  I can wear the jacket and dress together when the day starts out chilly but if the temperatures warm up the dress looks lovely on it's own.

Shoes: Steve Madded-Thrifted
Hair Flower: Handmade by Me
Hairstyling by Alyx Halsey

The Lindy Bop Tiana Twin Set flatters my curves and makes me feel like I just stepped out of a retro movie.  The dress is an off the shoulder style with bow detailing on the shoulders, a nipped in waist and full flared skirt.  I am wearing a petticoat under my skirt for fullness.  The jacket is a 3/4 sleeve bolero style with a rounded neckline that hits just at the waist.  Comfortable and classy for day wear or dressed up, this set can be accessorized to be appropriate for almost any occasion.  The floral brocade material is so luxurious and really feels like it is a true vintage piece.   It is a poly/spandex blend with very little stretch so be sure to look closely at the measurements on the size chart before you order, I generally check these because each Lindy Bop garment has a unique fit according to its style.  I am wearing The Tiana Twin Set in a size UK20.  Fit is just right, the bodice is snug with a bit of stretch, the waist nips in to flatter and the skirt can fit a full petticoat but also lays nicely without due to pleating at the waistline.  This shade of burgundy is just right for the coming fall colors but will also be lovely for the Christmas season.

This is my first Lindy Bop Twin Set but it makes me want to go snap up their other sets because these make a great addition to my wardrobe!  Lindy Bop consistently releases beautiful new designs, I cannot wait to see what else they have in store for the Autumn/Winter season.  The Lindy Bop Tiana Twin Set will give me a ton of wear for the upcoming holiday season, it is classy, timeless and versatile.  I adore Lindy Bop, they give me beautiful vintage style clothing with a huge variety of styles to choose from, great quality and an affordable price so I can refresh my wardrobe for each season without breaking the bank!

Whimsical Wildflowers! Introducing the new Karina Dresses Wildflowers Print!

Hello!  It has been a bit since I have blogged and I apologize, the time has just gotten away with me.  Michigan seems to be in the midst of the longest winter ever and over the last month it has been a struggle with my health with flu and colds going around like crazy.  It's still snowing even though April has arrived so I am thinking spring thoughts and trying to will spring to come even as snow flies!  I have some great content coming up so get ready for a ton of new reviews and pretty pictures.  Follow me on my Instagram or Facebook for more fun content; Outfit of the Day photos, food, random thoughts, funny stuff and ridiculously fluffy Pomeranian photos are guaranteed!

Today, I am happy to introduce Karina Dresses newest Signature Print, Wildflowers.  I am reviewing the Nora Dress in the new Wildflowers Print.  I love the cut and feel of the Nora Dress and in this whimsical, bright Wildflowers print, it reminds me of the cute but casual house dresses I remember my Grandmother wearing when I was younger.

The Wildflowers print is adorable.  Cute, pop art style flowers dance about on a blue backdrop.  Bright and cheerful this print is perfect for the coming warm months.  It adds a bit of primary color whimsy to my wardrobe, I tend towards pastels and fancy rose based floral prints so this pop art floral is a bold and fun way to wear one of my favorite prints.  When you combine the Wildflowers print with the Nora Dress, you get vintage perfection!

The Nora Dress is features a v-neck bodice, cap sleeves, a defined waistband, gathered back and a circle skirt with pockets!  A comfortable yet elegant dress that can be worn at home for casual comfort or easily dressed up and worn out on a dinner date.  I love versatile styles and this Nora Dress is so great because it can be worn in so many ways.  I have paired it with a cardigan and petticoat here because it was a chilly day outside, but it looks equally as cute on it's own and will be lovely to wear on a hot summer day with sandals!

Cardigan: Cardigan in White from MAK Sweater
Flower: Gerbera Daisy from Vintage Box 1947
Earrings: Bad Girl Hoops in 24K Gold from Vixen by Micheline Pitt
Makeup: Tarte
Lipstick: Victory Red from Besame Cosmetics

I am wearing the Nora Dress in a size XXL here, which is my normal Karina size.  The fit is great, this dress loves my curves and has a good amount of stretch to make it super comfy.  I love to wear my petticoats with my dresses, so I am delighted in this full circle skirt but it looks just as lovely on its own.  I cannot stress enough how thrilled I am when a dress has pockets.  It is so convenient to be able to put your wallet or phone in the pocket of your dress instead of always having the added worry of keeping track of a purse. I love a dress with pockets it makes my life infinitely easier!

Another reason to love Karina is that each of their dresses is made of the same Microfiber blend that is wrinkle free and machine washable.  I love that I can pack several Karina Dresses for a trip and they come out of a bag ready to wear, they make it so much easier to travel.  I am also a huge advocate of buying American made products wherever possible and Karina Dresses are proudly made in the USA!

Effortless Style with Karina Dresses, featuring the new Naomi Dress!

Affiliate Disclaimer: This blog contains links that when clicked on and purchased from may result in a small commission to this site.

I am happy to be back after a blog hiatus to focus on health and spend the holidays with my family!  I suffer from anxiety and depression, in the winter with the holidays it gets much worse, I wanted to focus on things here at home as well as my own health so it was necessary to take a break but I am back with lots of new content to come in 2018!!  If you want to see more,  you can also follow me on Facebook or Instagram for outfit of the day posts, lots of candid life photos and tons of Michigan love!

Today, I am happy to be collaborating with Karina Dresses to introduce the NEW Naomi Dress in Tulip Garden from Karina's Sweetheart Collection.  Karina Dresses specializes in effortless everyday styles.  Made from a microfiber blend of polyester and spandex, Karina Dresses are the original easy dress, they fit beautifully on all body types and they travel effortlessly because the material is wrinkle free.  I mean you can literally wad this dress up in a ball, pull it out and it still looks perfect, definitely something we need more of in our busy lives!

The Naomi Dress is a new style for Karina!  A swingy, skater style dress with a fitted scoop neck bodice, cute cap sleeves, a full flirty circle skirt and ladies, best of all, it has POCKETS!!  I cannot contain my rapture when I receive a dress and it has pockets, the sheer joy with which I skip around happily informing the world that MY dress has POCKETS is ridiculous!  BUT, it is not common for women's dresses to have pockets and I believe it is one of the most underappreciated design elements in women's clothing.  These pockets are a great size too, large enough to hold both my cell phone and wallet, so very convenient!

Outfit Details:
Dress: Naomi Dress in Tulip Garden Print, Size XXL C/O of Karina Dresses

Cardigan: Cardigan in Olive C/O Mak Sweater
Heels: Black Kitten Heels from Mossimo
Makeup: Tarte Cosmetics
Lipstick: Victory Red from Besame Cosmetics

The Naomi Dress fits like a dream and feels even better.  The microfiber material is so light and comfortable to wear, the shape flatters my curves and it does not cling but floats and swings around you.  This dress has tons of stretch, I went with a size XXL and it fits me just right.  The bodice is nicely fitted, cut modestly and it nips in at the waist to flatter. The cap sleeves are cute and comfortable giving a nice bit of upper arm coverage.  The length hits just below the knee on me at 5'2" tall.  The skirt is generous, flaring at the waist and very full with lots of fun movement, there is enough room to wear a petticoat underneath if desired for vintage styled looks.

Photo Location: Frederik Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan

I adore the pretty Tulip Garden print, it is a classic Karina pattern but the skater style Naomi Dress gives it a fresh and flirty feel.  This is a dress that has many styling possibilities, I love having pieces in my wardrobe that inspire me to create many different looks, it is such a joy to change up my look with simple changes in accessories, it shows off my personality and mood for the day!  Naomi is an effortless style, it can be worn alone in the summer for an easy, chic outfit, but it would also be great dressed up with a petticoat, contrasting belt, heels and pretty vintage accessories.  Naomi could also be worn in the winter with a cardigan, leggings and boots.  I am in love with my Naomi Dress!  I adore so many of Karina Dresses lovely selection, they have designs that suit every mood, style and size.   Which Karina Dress is your favorite?

Lovely in Lace! My Review of the Kiyonna Lacey Cocktail Dress

Affiliate Disclaimer: This blog contains links that when clicked on and purchased from may result in a small commission for this site.

Today, I am reviewing the Lacey Cocktail Dress in Bluebird by Kiyonna.  The Kiyonna Lacey Cocktail Dress is a sophisticated vintage inspired classic, a gorgeous A-line dress made of floral lace with a classic Sabrina style neckline, 3/4 lace sleeves and flared skirt.  The Lacey Cocktail Dress is perfection!  I love how the dress fits, hugging my curves and flaring out at the waist into a swingy skirt.  This dress just screams 1960's cocktail party to me, perfect for evening entertaining or a day out on the town, it is versatile and beautiful.

The Lacey Cocktail Dress is a gorgeous shade of blue that reminds me of bright skies and sunny days.  Blue is a color that I do not often look at when choosing clothing but this lovely dress has made me realize I need to add more of this shade to my wardrobe.   The lace is a lovely floral pattern that is both feminine and sophisticated.  I love my Lacey Cocktail Dress, I feel timeless and ethereal when I wear it.
Outfit Details:
Dress: Lacey Cocktail Dress in Bluebird in size 2X C/O Kiyonna
Earrings: Pearl Drop Earrings by Ceci Punch Designs
Makeup: Tarte Cosmetics
Lipstick: Victory Red by Besame Cosmetics
Shoes: Black Kitten Heels by Mossimo (thrifted)

The Lacey Cocktail Dress fits like a dream!  The stretch lace and poly spandex lining have a great amount of give so the dress fits and flatters without being tight.  I am wearing a size 2x here and it is just right, fitted on top and generous enough to swing out on the bottom.  I wear a size 14/16 on average in tops and a 24 in bottoms so in order to get the A-line silhouette to fit my body type correctly I go with the size that will fit my bottom half best, otherwise it clings in all the wrong places.  The neckline is pretty and modest which makes this a fabulous frock for family occasions or church, anything where you desire a bit more coverage but the sheer lace detail keeps it modest without being prudish.  The sleeves are 3/4 length, hitting me just below the elbow and giving nice coverage of the upper arm.  The Lacey Cocktail Dress fits and flares in a way that highlights curves without being clingy and I just love the way the sheer lace areas look against my skin.

I had fun styling my Lacey Cocktail Dress!  I love the versatility of a lace dress, it is a blank canvas just waiting for you to add accessories and really show off your personal style.  I styled it simply with sophistication by adding pearl earrings and black kitten heels but I also love a bit of whimsy and dressing things up a fanciful fashion, so I also added a matching flower crown and a cute cupcake clutch. I looked amazing and felt comfortable all day long.  The Kiyonna Lacey Cocktail Dress is a classic, a must have style that will add versatile, vintage flair to your wardrobe!
A classic dress that is versatile and fun to style!

Wrapped in ruffles, my review of the Kiyonna Winnie Wrap Dress

Affiliate Disclaimer: This blog contains links that when clicked on and purchased from may result in a small commission for this site.

It has been a glorious summer!  I have been spending as much time possible adventuring around Michigan, attending events representing Pinups for Patriots with my Michigan platoon sisters and enjoying the outdoors.  I have been lucky to spend quality time at Lake Michigan with my best friends and have had some great date nights with my husband.  It has been lovely and even though it is July, I feel like summer is just really starting to pick up and it will only get better from here!

I am reviewing the Kiyonna Winnie Wrap Dress in Navy/Blush Print.  This dress is a romantic dream. A floral wrap dress with yards of flouncy ruffles, tie waist and the cutest cold shoulder detailing on the sleeves.  Winnie is comfortable and flowing but elegant with a very 1940's vibe.

Dress: Winnie Wrap Dress in Navy/Blush Print in size 2X by Kiyonna
Earrings: Pearl Drop Earrings by Ceci Punch Designs
Shoes: Athena Wedges in Cream/Silver by Bearpaw
Purse: Vintage Beaded and Sequined Satin Handbag circa 1950's
Bracelet: Vintage Bead Chain Cuff with Engraved Clasp circa 1920's
Lipstick: American Beauty by Besame Cosmetics
Makeup: Tarte

The Kiyonna Winnie Wrap Dress is made of a soft Poly/Spandex blend material that has lots of stretch and breaths nicely making it a great summer frock.  I am wearing a size 2X here, I chose to size up because I am always nervous of wrap styles on my very generous bottom so I went a size up from my normal Kiyonna size just to be safe. The dress fits great with a bit of extra material to make me feel safer in a wrap style but it is generously sized with great stretch in the material so I could have gone down to a 1X comfortably but this 2X fits me beautifully and I feel secure having a bit of wiggle room so I won't accidentally expose myself due to a gust of wind.  Winnie is a great length, hitting me just below the knee and the ruffled bottom gives this dress so much fun, swinging movement.

The ruffles are the star of this dress for me, they line the edges of the bodice, wrap and bottom and create a dress that is poetry in motion.  It moves, sways, waves and flows, it is incredibly fun to wear and makes me want to walk around just to feel it moving around me!  Winnie features a pretty floral print with blush accenting creamy blossoms on a lovely navy blue background.  This dress is beautiful for wearing on a long summer day out and about in nature!

Winnie wraps around the bust, cinches in with a tie waist and flares out in a flouncy ruffled bottom really accenting my curvy figure.  The sleeves make this dress stand out, they are trendy cold shoulder style that can be tied to adjust the opening to suit your taste.  When I was a little girl, I remember wearing shorts, tank top and normal summer clothing without thought but by the time I was a teen I was so ashamed of my body and insecure, I used to wear long pants and sleeved t-shirts in the summertime no matter how terribly uncomfortable I was to cover up.  The younger me believed that since I was overweight I had to wear as much clothing as possible like camouflage but I have grown so much since then and now I believe that no matter your size, if the sun's out, it's time to get your guns out so I wore my sleeves tied at the elbow slightly to show a lot of arm.  I love my body so I do not harm it by wearing uncomfortable, hot clothes in the summertime anymore.  I am also thankful for companies like Kiyonna that design gorgeous plus size clothing that fits and flatters me so I can express the person I am with my style!

The Kiyonna Winnie Wrap Dress is vintage romance drenched in flirty ruffles with details that keep me reaching for it again and again, a summer favorite!!  For more fun be sure to follow me on Instagram!!

Springtime Flowers! My review of the May V-neck 50's Style Dress by Dolly and Dotty

It has been crazy the last few months!  Winter hung on longer here in Michigan than normal but nature is finally waking up and everything is bursting into bloom!  I am thrilled for the warmer weather because it makes traveling much easier, I love adventuring and being outside in the beauty of Michigan!

Today, I am reviewing the May V-neck 50's Style Dress in Teal/Pink Floral by Dolly and Dotty.  The May Dress is one of my favorite fits from Dolly and Dotty!  A wrap style V neck with a banded waist and full circle skirt. This lovely floral features a light teal background with colorful pink blossoms. Absolutely ideal for the springtime, beautiful worn alone or with a cute cardigan for warmth this dress is versatile and the perfect vintage style!

Pink Velvet Rose Hat, Silver Chain Bead Cuff Bracelet and White Beaded Bag are Vintage.

The May V-neck 50's Style Dress is made of 95% cotton and 5% elastane blend.  This fabric has a ton of stretch, I easily could have sized down for a tighter fit but the dress fits me very comfortably at a size UK 20 (US 18).  The variety of shades in the print makes for some really great accessorizing.  I chose to play up the baby pink shade by wearing a fabulous vintage pink velvet rose hat and pink peeptoe heels, a beaded vintage bag and my favorite neutral earrings the ivory mystic drops.

I adore Dolly and Dotty for always having the most beautiful prints and stylish dresses that fit me great!  Check them out and tell me in the comments which Dolly and Dolly dress is your favorite?

Date Night Perfection! My review of the Kiyonna Audrey Lace Dress!

Affiliate Disclaimer: This blog contains links that when clicked on and purchased from may result in a small commission for this site.

Today, I am reviewing the Audrey Lace Dress in Black Noir by Kiyonna.  The Audrey Lace Dress is a delightful geometric stretch lace cocktail dress with a flirty A-line skirt and sexy cold shoulder detailing.  I absolutely adore this dress!!  I was apprehensive at first because it was a bit more modern in styling and form fitting than my normal vintage swing dresses but as soon as I put the Audrey Lace Dress on, I fell in love.  It's sexy, sophisticated and elegant!

Outfit Details:
Dress: Audrey Lace Dress in Black Noir, size 1x c/o Kiyonna
Earrings: Bad Girl Hoops in 14K Gold from Vixen by Micheline Pitt
Tights: Plus Size Nylon Lycra Tights in Fuschia c\o We Love Colors
Shoes: Kitten Heels by Massini
Lipstick: Cherry Red (1935) by Besame Cosmetics

The Audrey Lace Dress is the perfect little black dress to add to your wardrobe.  It is fabulously flirty and super stylish for date night fun.  I styled my Kiyonna Audrey Lace Dress with Valentine's Day in mind by adding a punch of pink with Fuschia tights.  I went with simple gold hoops and a braided updo, because I wanted to draw attention to my shoulders and let the neckline be the star of the show.

The geometric pattern on the lace draws the eye and looks lovely against the skin.  The lace material is stretchy but does not have a lot of give so if you are in between sizes I would suggest sizing up.  I am wearing the Audrey Lace Dress in a size 1x,  The sleeves are sheer and hit me just below the elbow.  Length hits a few inches below the knee on my 5'3" frame. I am in the top of the measurements for this size and this dress is very form fitting on me without being too tight.  I felt a bit self conscious at first but as soon as I wore the dress out, the compliments started flooding in!  The Audrey Lace Dress is definitely an attention getter.  Who says sexy has to be revealing, this dress is super sexy while being completely modest and wearable for any occasion.

We had a glorious date night together at The Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.  We walked around taking in the beauty of the resort, looking at the huge variety of bright, interesting slot machines, sipped drinks, played a few penny slots and had a great dinner to finish off our evening.  I felt gorgeous and stayed comfortable in my Kiyonna Audrey Lace Dress for a night to remember!

Glam for the Holidays! My review of the Kiyonna Retro Glam Lace Dress!

Affiliate Disclaimer: This blog contains links that when clicked on and purchased from may result in a small commission for this site.

I am reviewing the Retro Glam Lace Dress in Black Lace with Purple Lining from Kiyonna.  The Retro Glam Lace Dress is a gorgeous confection of a frock that channels 1940's glamour into a wearable modern style.  Black scalloped stretch lace overlays a dramatic purple lining accented with a black rayon sash and a vintage style rhinestone brooch.  The surplice neckline flatters and fits beautifully, highlighting the bustline while still providing good coverage.  The sash at the waist gives lovely shape to the dress and vintage style brooch adds a touch of glitz.  I love the sleeve length on this dress, a bit longer than normal they come down to my elbow providing more coverage for the chillier weather.  The skirt is fitted at first flaring slightly to a little flirtatious flounce at the bottom edges. I styled my Retro Glam Lace Dress with a mix of modern and vintage accessories for an impromptu dinner date out with my husband.  This dress is beautiful, an easy way to look glam with very little effort!

Outfit Details:
Dress: Retro Glam Lace Dress in Black Lace/Purple Lining, size 1x courtesy of Kiyonna
Hair Flower: Orchid Hair Piece by Pin Up Curl
Earrings: Silver Rose and Chain Dangle Earrings from Gigi's Traveling Boutique, our local boutique
Clutch: Vintage
Shoes: Madden Girl-Thrifted

I am smitten with the vintage feel and styling of the Retro Glam Lace Dress.  It is nearly impossible to find actual vintage dresses in plus sizes that are also in wearable condition, I am always thrilled to add a dress to my wardrobe that has the vintage flair I love in a size I can wear!  This dress does fit a bit more snug than other Kiyonna dresses, I am wearing my normal size 1x and it fits like a glove.  The nylon spandex blend material has a good bit of stretch so it will loosen up with wear but if you are between sizes I would recommend sizing up.

Perfect for the upcoming holiday season, The Retro Glam Lace Dress has just the right balance of retro and modern, a classically glamorous dress you'll want to wear again and again!  Kiyonna has all your holiday glam wardrobe needs covered.
