Winter fashion Lifesavers! We Love Colors Tights Review!

Good morning!  It is a glorious snowy day here in Michigan.  Winter has come at last and we have had enough snow the last few days to more than make up for what we missed in December.  Wintertime is a tough time of year for me.  I love the beauty of the season but let's face it, it's often too cold and impractical to wear dresses in the winter.  I was looking for solutions to this problem because I honestly only wear jeans if absolutely necessary, so when I discovered We Love Colors I was beyond thrilled!!

We Love Colors offers tights, fishnets and hosiery in the perfect selection of colors to match any outfit and sizes that fit women from 90-375 lbs. We Love Colors also offers leotards, unitards and other dancewear.  When they say We Love Colors, they are not kidding!  They offer 50 + colors of solid tights, as well as a vast array of stripes and fun patterns.  We Love Colors were kind enough to send me some tights to style and review. I have been having tons of fun wearing these bold colored tights under my dresses.

When choosing colors I wanted to get something bold and fun but something that would match many dresses in my wardrobe.  I love wearing my Emerald Green and Fuschia Plus tights their fun colors really bring a bright pop of color into my winter wardrobe. The colors are fun but the best part of wearing the tights is that they keep my legs toasty warm while looking super cute and shapely!!

We Love Colors sizing and fit are great.  I received size C/D and they fit me perfectly.  They are easy to get on and comfortable without binding, pulling or being too tight at the waist as some hose can be.  I did not have to struggle to get into the tights, which makes me more likely to wear them.  In the past I have had issues finding sizing that did not make me feel as if I was stuffing myself into the garment.

I have been putting them through the paces for a couple months now and I am impressed with We Love Colors quality!  I have worn them running all over the place, at home, at church, family gatherings, at a photo shoot on rough wooden floors and they have not ripped, pulled or snagged yet!  I am rough on things, I am very active and I also tend to kick off my shoes when I am inside, so durability is a must!   I have never had a pair of tights or hose last through my rough wear for more than two uses, but my We Love Colors tights have each been worn six or seven times and show little sign of wear.  I have washed and dried them, as instructed and the colors are still bright and fit lovely.  I really love my We Love Colors tights!!  Thank you We Love Colors for your commitment to high quality products for all women to wear!

Wishful Wednesday Winter Wonderland!

Wishful Wednesday is back after a long hiatus!!!  I have been so busy working, doing family things, reviewing and shooting that I've sadly neglected my Wishful Wednesday blogs but no more!!

I love the holidays!  Winter in Michigan brings it's own unique beauty and the Christmas season with brightly colored lights, sparkly tinsel, vintage decorations and activities with loved ones is my favorite holiday of the year!  This week's Wishful Wednesday is my favorite Winter or Christmas themed pieces for tons of interchangeable wardrobe fun whether it's a casual gathering or a dinner party, the pieces will have you outfitted in style!

Bernie Dexter's Veronique in Winter Wonderland Print is classic. It features a fitted bodice with flattering pleated shoulder details, belted waist and a full skirt with hidden lipstick pockets.  The print is magical, like stepping into a Thomas Kinkade painting, it evokes a dream of snowy serenity.  Veronique in Winter Wonderland Print is an enchanting fantasy dress!

I love Lindy Bop's new Alpine themed print and the Renee Twin Set is my favorite of the new items they have available in this print.  The Renee Twin Set features a Sleeveless Dress with sweetheart neckline, gathered straps and a full pleated swing skirt; and a matching cropped cap sleeve jacket in complimenting print.  Renee is versatile because each piece is lovely separately but they can also be paired with other items for unlimited potential!

This adorable 1940's inspired Intarsia cardigan features contrast placket with embroidered flower detail, gathered shoulders, long sleeves and button down front.  I would love to wear this cozy cardigan over a dress or paired with a shirt and skirt.  Humphrey is the perfect retro styled cardi!

4.  Hell Bunny Noelle Dress

The Noelle dress from Hell Bunny is a Pin-up perfect cotton frock in a frosty blue winter print with a retro silhouette evocative of mid-century styles. Powdered with snow, the short sleeved sweetheart bodice features princess seaming to the natural waist where a removable white contrast belt nips and cinches into a tightly gathered circle skirt that gracefully falls just below the knee. A festive scene featuring foxes, fawns and birds frolicking around the hem, Noelle is whimsical with pine boughs and woodland creatures, sure to bring a smile to anyone who sees!

5. Folter  Holiday Leaves Dress

A sweet retro styled frock featuring a fitted bodice and full swing style skirt with pockets.  The Holiday Leaves vintage print is festive with birds, acorns, pine branches, holly, Christmas ornaments and presents.  Worn with a cardigan and tights this dress is sure to be a winter wardrobe favorite because of the unique pretty print!

6. Vendula Snowflake Mini Purse

Vendula's Snowflake Mini Purse is great as a purse or mini evening bag.  Silver vegan friendly leather with appliqued snowflake design and a double chain strap make this the perfect compliment to carry with any winter ensemble.

7. Viva La Lux Snowman Confetti Sparkling Brooch

This fabulous handmade 1940's-50's style Snowman Brooch is covered in Confetti with a sparky top hat!! This is a classic statement piece of jewellery which has been lovingly created to get the most authentic looking finish possible.  Winter in Michigan lasts give or take about five months, so having a Snowman Brooch in my collection would mean months of possibilities!

8.  Erstwilder Tis the Season Resin Brooch

Erstwilder does it again with their latest Holiday themed range.  This adorable ornamented Christmas Tree made from layered resin reminds me of the quirky cute bottle brush trees my Grandmother used to scatter around.  Tis the Season is sold out at the moment but keep your eyes out and you may be able to add this beauty to your collection!

Kiyonna Sunset Stroll Bellini Review

It's almost here.  Winter!  I love living in Michigan but I have to admit winter is my least favorite time of year, the snow and the bone chilling cold make it a trying time to live here.  The snow is late to arrive this year giving us a bit of reprieve, because by this time last year we had already gotten 29 inches of accumulation across the state. Winter in Michigan is beautiful but tough!

I will admit, I am not a pants wearing gal.  I have an extremely hard time finding jeans that fit my shape correctly because my waist is 39 inches, which measures a size 18 in most pants but my hip/butt measuring at 56 inches make me a size 22.  I  love how I feel in vintage style dresses, they fit my personality to a "T",  so that in combination with the fit issue, make it a rare occasion for me to wear jeans.  Living in Michigan however necessitates that I must wear pants at times, a dress in blizzard conditions is just not practical or safe!  This means I am always searching for pretty pieces to pair with items in my wardrobe so I can maximize the amount of outfit choices I have on those cold days when I wear jeans.

I love the Kiyonna Sunset Stroll Bellini in Cabernet.  A lightweight versatile cardigan perfect for every season.  Marsala was chosen as the Pantone Shade of the Year so this shade of Cabernet is trendy, a robust and earthy wine red.

I am always chilly so I prefer to wear layers and this is the perfect layering piece.  The Kiyonna Sunset Stroll Bellini is very versatile, it looks lovely paired with a lace cami and jeans, over a long sleeve tee and jeggings or worn over a dress.  Made of super soft lightweight jersey knit with 3/4 sleeves that hit just below my
elbow, the bellini is a light but warm outer layer.  The drawstring waist is adjustable so you can wear the bellini open in front or tied shut, whichever is your preference.  I am wearing my Sunset Stroll Bellini tied shut which gives the neckline a lovely gathering that I find very flattering to the figure.

We snapped these photos while enjoying a nice relaxing day together.  My husband, Kevin and I went for a walk on this rather blustery, rainy day and ended our fun shopping in Lakeview at my favorite place, The Peddler's Patch.  The Peddler's Patch has something for everyone with Peasley's Posies Flower Shop, handmade items, Michigan made/themed items, jewelry, clothing, home decor and antiques, a perfect place to find gifts this holiday season!

I love my hometown of Lakeview with its pictureque Tamarack Lake view, lovely historic buildings and amazing small businesses. The beautiful brick and stone buildings downtown were constructed in 1894 after a fire destroyed most of the original business district.  My ancestors came here as pioneers in 1870 and helped build the town.  I find the town history fascinating and love showcasing our little town!

Necklace: Torch Lake Blue Locket by Smitten Design Studio
Camisole: Lace camisole from Maurices
Jeans: ANA Bootcut Jeans from J.C. Penney
Boots: Twill Boots in Black courtesy of Bearpaw which were a limited release last year.  The Angelina, a similar style are available HERE

Kiyonna clothing really fits beautifully! I am wearing a size 1X, it feels comfortable and flattering on me with enough room for layering underneath.  Being petite, layering pieces can be too long on my frame but this bellini sits just at the top of my thighs, which is just right.  I found the Sunset Stroll Bellini to be comfortable, flattering and versatile.  I love Kiyonna and their commitment to bringing lovely high quality plus size clothing to us!!
