Wishful Wednesday!

Good day dolls!  I apologize for the lack of blogging, summer has me hopping.  Coming soon I have tons more product reviews, new collaborations and my very first giveaway so big things are coming!!  Don't miss out!

This week's Wishful Wednesday is celebrating the release of the new Curvy Kitten line of plus pinup style fashion from SWAK designs.  I have been a huge fan of SWAK for several years and own two of their dresses, I find their clothing to be high quality with great fit and styling!  The Peggy Sweetheart Dress in Blue Astro is my personal favorite!  I love the fun print, winged bust and retro style of this dress.  I would wear this Banned petticoat in red underneath, although it is a great style with or without the extra fluff of a petti.

Lola Ramona shoes are designed to be a small piece of art you can carry on your feet.  Each of their designs are thoroughly analysed and developed ideas, guaranteeing your feet good support.  They are on a mission to find the inner shoe diva in each of us.  I would love to pair the Angie Heels with this dress, Angie is a sailor style platform heel with a Red bow accents.  A perfect match and super adorable styling, the Angie is a great shoe to add to a variety of outfits as a statement piece.

I believe that hair accessories should be fun and unique that's why I fell in love with Crown and Glory.  They offer a beautiful selection of interesting hair accessories to top off every style in a whimsical way.  I would wear the Whole Lotta Rosie headband in my hair.  The 8 realistic, foam roses in Ocean hues sit on a silvertone base, ready for easy everyday wear.

To top off this ensemble I chose the uber girly Doily Necklace from Sugar & Vice.  Sugar & Vice offers jewellery made from plastic and metal charms and reclaimed, upcycled items; affordable pieces for a fun-loving crowd.  This Doily Necklace is a huge 5 inch statement piece made from laser cut opal acrylic and hangs from a chunky plated chain. Doilies are a pretty vintage touch that remind me of my Grandmother.  It is a great finishing touch for any outfit!

Wishful Wednesday - Lindy Bop love and Lana dress review

Beautiful summertime!  Gardening, hiking, carnivals, fairs, bonfires, beach breezes, grilling, ice cream treats and family fun.  I've been wholeheartedly enjoying every second of my summer!  Projects inside like reorganizong my wardrobe and my environmental writing for work keep me hopping, then there's my blog obsession.  I'm a busy body but I crave adventure and life sure brings it! I've been busy lining up the most exciting blog collaborations. I'm thrilled to announce upcoming features from Erstwilder, Banned Clothing, Rosita Bonita and more.  Fun photoshoots coming too!  Do not miss out, follow me on Instagram and Facebook for more updates!!!
I was humbled and surprised to be included, pictured in my Lindy Bop Lana dress, among some of my biggest plus size inspirations and peers in this Daily Mail UK article about the use of the hashtag #Curvee, the Body Positive community's response to the Instagram ban of the use of #curvy.  I cannot be silent.  I suffered for too many years with self loathing, I refuse to let other women feel that shame, the anguish of that feeling.  I will not be silent when I know better.  I'm overweight but I am NOT a stereotype and neither are most other plus gals.  I workout, I eat healthful foods and I am a clean freak.  I am healthy, happy, active and alive, I will NOT allow discrimination to keep me from living a full and rewarding life!!!!!

I'm in love with Lindy Bop.  I own three of their dresses myself and I am thrilled with the quality, attention to vintage styling, fit and beautiful fabrics they offer.  I recently purchased the Lana dress in teal floral.  A vibrant teal print with bright pink, purple and periwinkle floral with green leaves, the fabric is high quality cotton with just enough stretch for comfort and fit.  Scooped bodice with a low back, it nips in at the waist and is accented with a cute teal fabric belt that buttons in the back.  The belt is the only issue I have with the dress, it was just a tad too snug.  I can wear it but it feel as if it may break, although I wore it to church without incident I will be altering the belt so it fits comfortably.  Sizing it up a slight bit will help this issue, thankfully this dress is just as cute without the belt.  The shape is figure flattering, the full skirt bells out beautifully and holds its shape nicely.  You can try adding a petticoat to enhance the retro silhouette but is not necessary with this dress, the skirt bells out nicely on it's own.  My verdict, I love the Lana!  It fits beautifully, made with quality and comes in a fun variety of prints from dots to floral so you can find the Lana that best expresses your unique style.  It is my favorite Lindy Bop yet, wearable for everyday and it makes me look as though I just stepped out of a time machine from the 1950s!

Dress: Lindy Bop Lana
Hair flower: Daisy Jean Floral Designs

Because they consistantly keep coming out with new gorgeous styles this week's Wishful Wednesday is all Lindy Bop lovin'.  My top five choices from Lindy Bop, what I'm dying to wear and why it catches my greedy little, fashion-obsessed cat eyes.

I'm always trying to add new prints to my closet.  I'm a floral girl and I seem to get in a rut of buying florals only if I'm not careful.  I love the Claudine dress.  The bright plaid catches my eye, I adore the cute cheery colors!  The shirt dress style is eminently wearable and flattering to most body types.  This is a quintessential 1950s housewife dress!

I have been looking to add more separates to my wardrobe.  I love the casual elegance of a circle skirt with top.  Easy for everyday wear yet classy and lovely.  I would pair the Paloma top, a lovely red faux wrap top with embroidered sparrow shoulder detail, with the lovely red and white floral Peggy skirt.  Add a ruffly petticoat, cute accessories and you're out the door in style without a ton of effort.

This tropical print Grace dress caught my eye immediately.  I love the blue color combining with the lush tropical floral.  A sweetheart neckline, capped sleeves and full circle skirt with bow accent give the perfect mid-century style.  Add flower crown of orchids for perfect summer festival style.

I've been looking for the perfect polka dot dress and the Deirdre halter neck dress might just be it!  This dress with it's adorable wing bust, halter neck and full circle skirt would be a great addition to any wardrobe.  Add bright colored fun accessories for a gorgeous night out on the town!

The Audrey style is iconic.  Modest, feminine and flattering, Lindy Bop offers the Audrey in a huge variety of colors and prints.  I love this Audrey in floral stripe.  Navy blue with light blue striping and bands of colorful floral, this dress is timeless, a sophisticated style that would be great at the office or on the deck of a boat sailing into the sunset.  Do you own any Lindy Bop dresses?  What is your favorite Lindy Bop design?

Wishful Wednesday- Beach Babe edition!

Good day!!  The sun is shining, its hot, humid and summer is in full swing!  Michigan is a beautiful state for summer fun.  The Great Lakes coast is ripe with opportunity, lakeside towns full of shopping, gourmet food and adventure.  Lake Michigan is home to some of the most beautiful beaches, bordered by sand dunes and woods, I can lose myself walking on the beach, soaking up the sun, the peaceful sound of the waves. In Michigan you are never more than 6 miles from a body of water so swimming is a daily part of summertime life.  This week's Wishful Wednesday is vintage perfection for beach babe beauty!

I've been self conscious my entire life.  I've always been bigger and I carry a lot weight in my thighs.  I have cellulite and that for years caused me to believe I should always wear swim skirts, cover ups, shorts or avoid swimsuits altogether.  I've finally come to a place where I realize all bodies are beach bodies!  Enjoying summer is not a size exclusive thing.  I posed in my swimsuit without a cover up, thighs exposed, noone died, noone was cruel and I felt fabulous!

Here are my top swim suit choices for plus pinup style beach beauty and a few must have accessories for protecting yourself from the harsh summer sun.

Pinup Girl Clothing Pinup Couture Marilyn suit in Green
The Marilyn - a gorgeous, gathered, skirted thing of beauty that evokes old Hollywood glamour is designed to hold you in and push you up, for an extremely sexy beach silhouette. The suit is fully lined with power mesh to define your curves, the bust has padded cups that help support and the gathered design hides any imperfections. Two removable rhinestone brooches attach to the straps adding a glamorous finishing touch, the straps are adjustable and sizes XL-4X are also fitted with wider straps for better support.  A beautiful classic suit to flatter any shape, Pinup Girl Clothing always does vintage right!

Unique Vintage Casablanca Halter Top and High Waisted Bottoms in Polka Dots and Red Bows
With its blue and white polka dot print and cute red bows, this swim top has the perfect all-American retro look paired with the matching high-waisted bikini bottoms. I love this style for its undeniably classic retro look!

Torrid Peekaboo One Piece in Leopard
Sexy and stylish this leopard one-piece gives a flattering shape and fit. Front ruching slims and controls while convertible wide straps give support and versatility. I love my Torrid Peekaboo suit, it is flattering and sexy!!  Meow!!

Red Dolly Swimwear Retro Pin-Up Bikini in Black and White Stripe
I love this twist on the classic Barbie suit.  An adorable retro styled high waist bikini with a gathered bust halter top.  Pair this suit with cute Cherry Red Lolita Love Retro Heart Sunglasses and a high ponytail for a Barbie at the beach look sure to get attention!

Mod Cloth Wade A Minute Swimdress in Flamingos
Very cute and versatile, this one piece swimdress features underwire padded bust with bonig at the sides, a tiered swim skirt and removable straps.  I would love to pair this fun flamingo print with these stylish Bearpaw Calla Wedges in Black and a wide brimmed hat like this Black and White Striped Woven Sun Hat with Bow for a casual beach babe look.

Whatever your beach style may be, remember to enjoy yourself because you are worth it!!!

Wishful Wednesday!

It's Wednesday again and I find myself in the middle of another busy week.  Fourth of July was fun and festive.  We spent time with friends, enjoyed good food, watched fireworks and celebrated our great country!  As summer moves forward the surrounding countryside is beautiful, alive with wildflowers blooming and green leaves everywhere.  Today's Wishful Wednesday is a simple pretty summer look that could be worn for any occasion.

Trashy Diva offers a collection of vintage-inspired frocks featuring styles from the 1930s, '40s, and '50s ranging from size 0 to 24. Their design inspiration not only comes from vintage clothing but also from Trashy Diva customers and the women they employ.  Such a gorgeous selection of beautiful styles and prints to choose from. The Apple Tart Dress is blue and white Seersucker featuring a ruffled bodice, skinny straps and a fully gathered 8 panel circle skirt with pockets. Dressed up or down this frock is delightful, a fresh, sweet summertime look for .  I would add a Malco Modes Jennifer Petticoat in Red to add interest, volume to the full skirt and beautiful contrast.  Malco Modes have the best petticoats I have worn.  I own several vintage and new Malco Modes pettis and I love them!!!

Baccurelli makes the most amazing brooches, necklaces and accessories that make you feel playful, happy and most of all FEARLESS.  Each piece is designed with love to be eccentric, over-the-top, irreverent and playful, perfect to show off your unique, personal style!  I could not chose just one of their fantastic brooches to showcase with this outfit.  I love the Frida, Rosie and Ava brooches, the characters are iconic, exactly right to finish any vintage inspired look or add a fun focal point to any outfit.  No outfit is complete without a pretty hair accessory.  This Unique Vintage Retro Style Red Floral Hair Wrap would top this look off in a cute stylish manner while protecting your hair from the harsh heat and wind of summer.

Remix has been featured here before.  I am enamored of their large selection of vintage shoes.  I would wear their Veronica Heels in Red as the finishing touch.  The epitome of sexy sophisticated 1940s style they feature a high platform, ankle strap and peep toe.  I think the combination of red with the sedate blue and white seersucker dress is dramatic and lovely.

Let me know what you think, what is your favorite part of this look?  I hope you are enjoying my blog as much as I love bringing it to you.  I have many exciting collaborations coming in the next few months, lots of exciting new products and I'll be sharing my journey as I participate in my first Pinup competition at The Grand Rapids Metro Cruise!  Stay tuned!!!

Tuesday Treasures-Vintage Hats

I have always had a love of vintage fashion.  My Grandmother had many antique items and the golden age movies we watched further inspired me.  Hats have been worn by ladies all throughout history.  As a covering to warm the head, protect the hairstyle or as a colorful accessory.  Vintage etiquette articles suggest that it would be a disgraceful act for a Lady to venture out of the house without a hat or even gloves.  I began collecting vintage hats several years ago with a hat I found at a yard sale for fifty cents and it's been an obsession ever since.  I'm always on the look out for hats and fascinators to top my outfits off in perfect ladylike fashion.  Here are a few of my favorites

My first hat.  Black with satin ribbon, velvet ribbon and bead medallions.  Yard sale.

Felt hat with large satin bows.  Thrift store.

Black bow back ring with net and rhinestones.  Purchased at an antique store.

Brown velvet trimmed with vintage pearls, beads and net.  Estate sale.

Green velvet 'leaves' with net overlay.  Antique store.

Cream linen hat with flower bouquet accent and net.  Estate sale.

Blue and white velvet ribbon and flower fascinator.  Goodwill.

White woven hat with velvet ribbon trim and berry bunches.  Antique store.

Feather fascinator.  Estate sale.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing a few of my favorite vintage hats.  Next week Antique jewelry, what to look for and where!  For more fun follow me on Instagram and Facebook too!!!

Wishful Wednesday

Beautiful summertime!  It's intoxicating, sunshine, green leaves, colorful flowers and fresh fruit!  This week's Wishful Wednesday is a tribute to summertime fun, fruit and flowers.

Stop Staring was established in 1997, they have original retro chic dresses and separates that flatter your figure and cater to a woman's independent spirit with timeless and classic style.  The Robin dress is a classic vintage shape in beautiful baby blue cherry print. The fabric is a cotton blend with little stretch.  Graceful v-neckline pair with thick shoulder straps that can be worn on or off the shoulder and the waist gathers underneath the bust. The skirt hits just below the knee which is classy but still sexy.  A lovely dress for these glorious summer days!

Accessories are an absolute necessity and there are so many creative and amazing makers of vintage styled accessories. Heidi and Gretel make limited edition hand painted & decorated laser cut wooden and acrylic brooches, earrings, xmas decorations, and trinkets.  Their Jumbo Vegan Cherry Pie brooch is the cutest compliment for this dress and with whipped cream on top who could resist?!  To complete our look are these absolutely perfect accessories from Femme De Bloom.  Femme De Bloom make the most delightful array of accessories, jewelry, hair pieces with love and attention to detail.  Their Cherry Bomb Earrings keep our cherry theme going.  It wouldn't be summer without the blooming flowers and because I am a fool for flowers, it is such a lovely feeling having flowers in my hair.  The Darling Daisy flower crown is lovely blue daisies that echoes the blue of our dress.  Beautiful summery style!!

I have featured the fabulous shoes from B.A.I.T (but another innocent tail) Footwear on previous blogs.  I love the retro sensibility of their designs and the fact that they have colors to match everything in your wardrobe.  The Lilly is a 1940s style sling back peep toe heel.  Red suede with white mesh to contrast, they are the perfect compliment for this dress!!

I am working on some exciting collaborations coming the next few months, I cannot wait to share with you!  Be sure to follow me on Facebook and Instagram!
