Winter Style with We Love Colors!

Hey everyone!  I know it's been a long time since I have blogged.  I have been struggling the last month with my anxiety, depression and the winter weather compounds some of these things.  After a visit with my therapist and scheduling to see my Dr I feel much better and I am ready to get back to blogging! It has been CRAZY here in Michigan for the last few weeks.  I managed to fall on the ice which put me out of commission for a couple weeks with a sprained ankle then that was immediately followed by some of the craziest winter weather we have had in years.  Michigan actually declared a state of emergency due to snow, negative temperatures and ice storms that knocked the power out in much of our area.  Ah, Winter, it is beautiful but treacherous!

Hello!  Fall has turned into Winter here in Michigan and the snow did not wait.  We have already had several days of snow, the last bits of the autumn leaves have fallen leaving the trees bare and the summer visitors have gone home so there is a silence to this season that can be a bit of a relief after the boisterousness of summer living on the lake.  There is beauty to Winter in Michigan, I am excited to celebrate Christmas and I thoroughly enjoy the enchanting sights, delicious smells, joyful sounds and bright, twinkling colors of my favorite holiday season!

 
Today, I am reviewing the Karina Dresses Ruby Dress in Wine Deco Squares.  The Ruby Dress is a faux wrap style dress with faux wrap bodice, 3/4 sleeves, a sash tie at the waist and a full knee length skirt.  The Ruby Dress in Wine Deco Squares is a lovely retro style dress that is sure to give your wardrobe new life. Soft, comfortable microfiber material makes this dress perfect for travel, Karina Dresses are easy to pack and come out of your bag ready to wear thanks to the no maintenance microfiber.  The Wine Deco Squares signature print is a retro style art deco geometric print containing shades of wine, coral and blue so there are many ways to style this dress.  This shade of wine is great for wearing year round but earthy shades like this are my favorite to wear during Thanksgiving dinner with the family and this Ruby Dress would also look lovely with shades of hunter green for Christmas.

 I am wearing the Ruby Dress in my normal XXL.  Fit is as always fabulous.  Karina Dresses are very consistent in their sizing, this is a huge deal to me because there are such huge discrepancies with some companies sizing from style to style or even the same garment in different prints so I am happy that I can always count on Karina for sizing!  The Ruby Dress hugs my curves, the sash tie gives me the cinched in waist that really emphasizes my curves and the 3/4 sleeves give great coverage for chilly days.  The length on me is just a couple inches below the knee due to my height.  I really love the flow of this dress, the microfiber material has great stretch and movement so the dress really hugs the body.

I am wearing the Karina Dresses Ruby Dress in Wine Deco Squares with complimentary wine accessories to emphasize the lovely shade of this dress against the wintry backdrop of this lovely historic church here in my hometown of  Lakeview.  A wine rose flower crown, Ivory Deco drop earrings, an Oxblood bangle, Red Velvet Lipstick and wine red patent wedges make for a pretty, feminine look that is perfect for any occasion.  This beautiful Ruby Dress has unlimited wearability potential for the holiday season.  Dress it up with gold accessories, red lips and high heels for date night or play up the blue shade in the dress with a chic cardigan, tights and boots for work.  I love restyling my dresses, often I will wear a dress several times but friends will ask if it is new because making simple changes in styling and accessories can make anything in your wardrobe feel fresh again.

Berry Beauty! My review of the Kiyonna Indie Flair Maxi Dress

It's great to be back to blogging after taking a break to enjoy the holiday season with my family.  I had tons of fun, tried some new things and spent a ton of quality time with those I love most. I feel energized coming into the new year!  My resolution for this year is to try as many new things as I can, I hope to expand my horizons as a model, writer and blogger.

 Today, I am reviewing the Indie Flair Maxi Dress in Boysenberry by Kiyonna.  The Indie Flair Maxi Dress is a bohemian dream.  This comfortable, flowing rayon maxi has many sweet and stylish design elements that make it a bold berry delight.  Kimono sleeves, a peplum style accent and a wrap bust give this dress maximum appeal to stand out in your wardrobe.  I am wearing the Indie Flair Maxi Dress in size 1x, the fit is great, flowing and perfect all around.  The length was past my feet but at 5'3" that's not unusual, I have to shorten most maxi dresses for the best fit.  The skirt is generous and flows nicely around you and I just love how soft the rayon material is against my skin, it floats and does not cling.

I adore this vivid Boysenberry shade, purple is my favorite color and this shade is perfection.  The rich berry tone of this dress is a gorgeous shade for anytime of year, dramatic and hard to ignore.  The wrap neckline is comfortable and drapes gracefully emphasizing the bust without being too revealing.  The kimono sleeves are comfortable and flowing, hitting at my elbows and providing much welcome coverage for the winter but are lightweight enough for wearing in the summer heat.  The cute peplum style feature at the hip is trendy and flattering, emphasizing and enhancing a curvy silhouette.

 Fun to wear, flowing and dramatic the Indie Flair Maxi Dress is a berry beauty.  I added simple bohemian accessories with vintage wooden hoop earrings and a daisy in my hair to play on the hippie vibe it gives me.  I love having a variety of stylish choices to wear for every occasion and Kiyonna always deliver the best!

Sparkling in the snow-Kiyonna Limited Edition Glimmer Cocktail Dress Review

Today, I am reviewing the Kiyonna Limited Edition Glimmer Cocktail Dress in Grapetini.  I have a tendency to purchase novelty prints and florals, casual and fun dresses but I have very few elegant dresses meant for fancier occasions.  I fell in love with the Limited Edition Glimmer Cocktail Dress in Grapetini because although purple is my favorite color, it is the color I actually have the least of in my wardrobe and I needed a timeless cocktail style dress!

Uniquely designed with ruching overlay on one shoulder, a trendy illusion neckline and constructed out of the softest mesh, this A-line knee length dress is perfect for any special occasion.  I am smitten with the pretty Grapetini color, it is such a sweet shade of purple!  Wearing this dress walking in the fresh snow by the Flat River in Greenville, Michigan made me feel like the first crocus of spring, bringing a pop of cheery color to the white of wintertime!

I am wearing the Limited Edition Glimmer Cocktail Dress in Size 1x.  The fit is beautiful, hugging my curves in just the right way!  The ruched shoulder is flattering to the bust, drawing the eye and the ruched waist gives the dress a figure flattering hourglass shape. The shimmering mesh material is classy and feminine with just the right amount of shine.  I love the way this dress sparkles silver when the light hits it!

 I wore my Limited Edition Glimmer Cocktail Dress in Grapetini to enjoy a lovely trip to Crane's Pie Pantry, Restaurant and Winery in Fennville, Michigan for wine tasting and appetizers with my husband and friends.

This dress is a lovely way to be dressed up without being uncomfortable.  The mesh fabric stretches to fit your figure but is not restrictive.  The sleeves hit just below the elbow on me covering my upper arm problem areas.  I love the flow of the fabric and the graceful swing of the skirt.  

I chose to style my Limited Edition Glimmer Cocktail Dress in Grapetini very simply due to the casual surroundings, but it would look gorgeous with statement jewelry and nude heels for a dressier occasion.   The Limited Edition Glimmer Cocktail Dress is just the sparkling, elegant statement piece I needed in my wardrobe, it is my go-to dress when I am going out and must look glorious!!

Wishful Wednesday Winter Wonderland!

Wishful Wednesday is back after a long hiatus!!!  I have been so busy working, doing family things, reviewing and shooting that I've sadly neglected my Wishful Wednesday blogs but no more!!  

  

I love the holidays!  Winter in Michigan brings it's own unique beauty and the Christmas season with brightly colored lights, sparkly tinsel, vintage decorations and activities with loved ones is my favorite holiday of the year!  This week's Wishful Wednesday is my favorite Winter or Christmas themed pieces for tons of interchangeable wardrobe fun whether it's a casual gathering or a dinner party, the pieces will have you outfitted in style!

1.  Bernie Dexter Veronique Dress in Winter Wonderland Print  

Bernie Dexter's Veronique in Winter Wonderland Print is classic.  I love Lindy Bop's new Alpine themed print and the Renee Twin Set is my favorite of the new items they have available in this print.  The Renee Twin Set features a Sleeveless Dress with sweetheart neckline, gathered straps and a full pleated swing skirt; and a matching cropped cap sleeve jacket in complimenting print.  Renee is versatile because each piece is lovely separately but they can also be paired with other items for unlimited potential!

3. Lindy Bop Humphrey Red Knitted Cardigan

  This adorable 1940's inspired Intarsia cardigan features contrast placket with embroidered flower detail, gathered shoulders, long sleeves and button down front.  I would love to wear this cozy cardigan over a dress or paired with a shirt and skirt.  Humphrey is the perfect retro styled cardi!

4.  Hell Bunny Noelle Dress

The Noelle dress from Hell Bunny is a Pin-up perfect cotton frock in a frosty blue winter print with a retro silhouette evocative of mid-century styles. This is a classic statement piece of jewellery which has been lovingly created to get the most authentic looking finish possible.  Winter in Michigan lasts give or take about five months, so having a Snowman Brooch in my collection would mean months of possibilities!

8.  Erstwilder Tis the Season Resin Brooch

Erstwilder does it again with their latest Holiday themed range.  This adorable ornamented Christmas Tree made from layered resin reminds me of the quirky cute bottle brush trees my Grandmother used to scatter around.  Tis the Season is sold out at the moment but keep your eyes out and you may be able to add this beauty to your collection!

9. Funky Lazer Glitter Reindeer Necklace

Bearpaw Madeline Review

It's winter in Michigan and this year has been another brutal one.  Negative temperatures nearly everyday have made tough to keep warm!  I've been needing a pair of good winter boots for several years.  Shoes and boots are not my favorite thing to buy.  I have wide feet and wide calves, which makes finding anything that fits decent tough.  Also living on limited income it is hard to justify the expenditure so I usually make due with my old boots, however this winter the cold made getting better boots necessary.  I've looked extensively but every pair I've bought let me down, either too narrow or the calves were too small, even Torrid brand boots were a tight fit.  I've been eyeing Bearpaw brand for a while so when they posted on their Facebook page that they looking for brand ambassadors, I jumped at the chance!!  I'm so happy and honored to have been chosen for this opportunity!!  I will be reviewing all the Bearpaw products I recieve.  I'm super excited to share!

Its hard to choose which pair of Bearpaws you want, they have so many varird fun styles to choose from!!  My first pair are the super cute Madeline boot in hickory, size 9. I generally wear an 8 but I measured slightly above the 8 on the Bearpaw size chart so they recommend sizing up as they do not carry half sizes.   They are perfect!!  Warm enough for Michigan winters, super stylish and rugged enough for walking in the snow.  The tread is great, no slipping and falling in these!!  I love how soft they are on my feet, like walking on a cloud and the longer you wear them, they conform to fit your feet perfectly.  The calf width is great!  I can wear them with jeggings and thick boot socks comfortably without struggling to put them on.  I recommend weatherproofing  them with a Bearpaw care kit to keep them looking their best, the kit also includes freshener spray and cleaner so it's must have for boot lovers.  I've recieved tons of compliments on these boots and everyone wants to touch the fuzzy trim!  Thanks Bearpaw for a great product!
